DESCRIPTION
Agrocops Coir Pith (ACP) is the spongy material around the coconut fibers. It is the rough component of the coconut husk. The coir waste extracted from ripe and mature coconuts is processed, dried and graded into powder form or blocks of coir for horticulture. It is commonly used in horticulture and landscaping. It is often mixed with soil to improve aeration and moisture retention.
ACP has a strong water holding capacity while allowing air to pass through. Because of its unique organic compounds, ACP can support vigorous root growth, which increases plant life. Due to high fertilizer costs and environmental concerns related to its use, there is increasing interest in using Coir pith for organic farming in agricultural horticulture in a more productive manner.
ACP has a moisture retention capacity of 600-800%. It has high potassium and low bulk density and particle density. All these characteristics make it suitable for use as mulch and soil amendment, especially in dry and sandy areas. ACP is very light and has good water holding capacity. The use of compost improves soil physicochemical properties and productivity of many crops. It can be used as a potting mix additive, soil erosion control, mushroom cultivation, soil-less medium, and hydroponics.
Constituents
Contains nitrogen (0.24%), phosphorus (0.01%), potassium (0.71%), calcium (0.40%), magnesium (0.30%) and lignin (30-31%) cellulose (26.5%) and other elements.
Qualities
1. ACP has a highwater holding capacity 6-8 times its weight.
2.Excellent moisture retention even after drying.
3.Stores and releases nutrients for long periods of time.
4. Helps in rooting.
5. Absence of weeds and pathogens.
How to use
Mix equal amounts of soil, gravel and compost to prepare a potting mix. Or mix 75% soil and 25% Coir pith to prepare a potting mix. It can also be used as a mulch around garden plants. It can be used as a soil-less growing medium.
